Baby Break and BEYOND! was founded by a UK based HR professional who’s been there and done that — from writing company leave policies to figuring out maternity pay at 3am. We’ve sat on both sides: as the employee and the advisor. Our blend of insider HR knowledge, employment law expertise and first-hand parental leave experience (x2!) means we know exactly where things get confusing and how to make them clearer.
A message from our Founder, Teela.
I’m a mum of two, wife of one, and a seasoned HR professional with a soft spot for justice, straight talking advice and supporting working parents like you.
After years in HR across the private, public and charity sectors (yep, everywhere from McDonald’s to the NHS), and two very different journeys through pregnancy and parental leave myself, I saw how isolating, confusing and under-supported it can all feel, even for someone in the know.
What really lit a fire under me? Scrolling through TikTok late at night, seeing so many real people in the comments under HR and maternity related posts, begging for clarity and answers and getting no response. I found myself jumping in to help strangers because I knew the answers and more importantly, I knew they deserved them.
That’s why I created Baby Break and BEYOND! I’m here to break down jargon, simplify the scary stuff, and help parents feel informed, empowered and ready whether they’re planning leave, on it, or figuring out how the hell to return. My long term goal for Baby, Break and BEYOND! is to become a registered Community Interest Company (CIC), allowing us to grow our impact, reach more families, and reinvest directly into accessible support for working parents and working parents to be across the UK.
